Unit Service Continues After May 17

As we bid farewell to the York Service Center, our journey ahead will inevitably take on a new shape, prompting adjustments in our operational approach. Below, you’ll discover our plans for maintaining our commitment to you and your unit, ensuring the delivery of an exceptional Scouting experience. Please share this information with the other adults and leaders in your unit for whom this information will be helpful.

Office Hours

To allow for a regularly scheduled opportunity to meet in person, drop off items, or pick up items, we will be holding office hours at the Panera Bread of Queen Street (2108 S Queen St, York, PA 17403). Office hours will take place each Wednesday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM and Friday from, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. These office hours will start on Wednesday, May 22.

Note: During the summer, due to Tyler’s summer camp commitments, office hours will not be held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Office hours will resume on September 4.

Youth and Adult Applications

Ensuring registrations for Scouts and Scouters remains a top priority. To ensure these are processed promptly, here is how you can continue to turn in applications for processing:

  1. Upload applications to https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/weqydNE4cfR. This is a secure upload that will encrypt all of the data on the application and redirect the application directly to me for processing.
  2. Physically turn in applications at Roundtable, during office hours, or at the Mechanicsburg Service Center.
  3. Connect with Tyler Roman, District Executive, at tyler.roman@scouting.org to make alternative arrangements.

Payment for any registrations can be submitted in person at the time of turning in the application, pulled from your unit account, mailed to the Mechanibcsurg Service Center (1 Baden Powell Lane, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050), or can be made over the phone at (717) 766-1591.

Purchasing Awards

For the time being, the Mechanicsburg Scout Shop remains open and ready to provide you with your regular advancement, uniform, and Scouting needs. Additionally, the Baltimore Scout Shop (800 Wyman Park Dr, Ste 120, Baltimore, MD 21211) might be closer to your unit and allow for easier access. Advancements and awards can be purchased in person or can be called ahead in advance for pick-up/delivery.

Awards can also be purchased online and shipped directly to your door (free shipping is also available for orders over $125). You can build your order manually at scoutshop.org or electronically through Scoutbook. Information on how to create a PO and order advancements through Scoutbook can be found at https://help.scoutbook.scouting.org/knowledge-base/scoutbook-now-has-an-online-ordering-feature-to-bsa-supply-for-ranks-awards-and-badges/.

Eagle Binders

Helping Scouts on their trail to Eagle Scout remains an honor for our District. As Scouts have projects completed and are ready to turn in their Eagle Binder and Application, please contact Tyler Roman directly at tyler.roman@scouting.org to schedule a time to drop off the binder. These arrangements might include our office hours, Roundtable, and Mechanicsburg Service Center, but may also be different depending on the Scout’s availability.

Scouts can continue to work with Steve Coates and Doran Frock as they have been for preparing their Eagle Scout Workbooks and project approvals. More information on these processes can be found at https://archive.newbirthoffreedom.org/resources/advancement-resources/eagle-scout-resources-2/.

Camp Cards

As a reminder, camp cards and payments are due June 7. If your unit is wrapped up selling cards, you can return your cards to the York Service Center for the remainder of this week. After May 17, Camp Cards can be returned during our scheduled office hours, to the Mechanicsburg Service Center, or on June 5 at St. John Lutheran Church (2580 Mt Rose Ave, York, PA 17402) between 6-7:00 PM (note: look for a green Subaru Outback). If these options do not support your schedule, please contact Gina Kreh at gpkreh@gmail.com and Tyler Roman at tyler.roman@scouting.org.
