baloo-75x94 Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)

This is a training required for Cub Scout and Webelos Leaders to take their packs camping.  At least one person on the campout must have completed this training.  The training will cover all basic Cub Scout skills including setting up camp and staying in a tent overnight.  Participants must also complete a portion of the training online at www.my.scouting.org before registering for the in-person portion of the course.  There is a fee to take this course and that covers the cost of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Please note that there needs to be a minimum of 6 adults registered for this training to hold it and the course has a maximum number of 25 participants.  The minimum and maximum amount of participants are in place to make sure that our volunteers get the best possible training experience.  Registrations will remain open until the Thursday before the course and if it is cancelled registered participants will receive an email notifying them that it was cancelled.  If you have any questions about the training please contact the Council Training Staff Advisor Roger Chatell at roger.chatell@scouting.org.

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) is a requirement to be fully trained in the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster positions.  Please remember that all Scoutmasters must be fully trained to recharter.  Participants must stay overnight to complete this course and there is a fee to cover the cost of the meals for the training.

Chartered Organization Representative Training

This is a basic training for Chartered Organization Representatives (COR). It will help explain the role of a COR.  CORs who complete this training and Youth Protection training are considered “fully trained” for this position. The Trainer’s EDGE

The Trainer’s EDGE is a supplemental training for volunteers who would like to become a trainer or would like to enhance their training skills.  The training will allow volunteers to practice using the EDGE method so they can become more effective when training other leaders and youth.  This training is also required for anyone who will be participating on staff at an NYLT or Wood Badge Course. Wood Badgewblogo

Participants learn and develop leadership skills that will enhance their ability to “Deliver the Promise” of Scouting to youth membership. Conducted over two full weekends, the Wood Badge training teaches leadership skills and how to apply them in Scouting and in life. The course offers team building, listening and communication skills, and project and change management.  It also offers conflict management and resolution, coaching, mentoring and evaluation skills.
