Dave Stark has crammed an awful lot of leadership experiences in Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA and Venturing into his long Scouting career, earning a reputation as a person who thrives on getting involved.
Dave began his volunteer service as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 286 in Orlando, FL in 1972. As his 21-year naval career took him around the world, Dave volunteered in Scouting wherever his travels took him
In 2000, Dave began his local volunteer service as a Webelos Leader for his son in Pack 89, chartered to the York Springs Lions Club, serving in that role for two years.
Dave then became the Scoutmaster of Troop 111 in December 2002, chartered to VFW Post 8896 in East Berlin, serving in that position until 2016. From 2001 to 2003, he also served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 89, chartered to the York Springs Lions Club.
Since 2005, Dave has served as Advisor to Venturing Crew 42, chartered to Lower Bermudian Lutheran Church. He earned the Venturing Leadership Award in 2010.
Dave is a longtime member of the Council’s Shooting Sports Committee and he started a Venturing Shooting Sports Weekend within Crew 42. It grew to include a few other Venturing crews and in 2015, was reformatted as a Council-wide event, which he still chairs. This event typically welcomes more than 100 youth participants.
A Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, Dave has also served as a District Chapter Advisor for the Black Walnut (York-Adams Area Council) and Battlefield (New Birth of Freedom Council) districts since 2001. Dave is also a recipient of the OA Founder’s Award.
