Justin Eberly began his Scouting career as a member of Pack 180, chartered to Silver Spring Community Fire Company, where he would go on to earn the Arrow of Light Award in 2003. He then joined Troop 283, chartered to St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, earning the rank of Eagle Scout in 2009.
Justin became an Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 283 in 2011 and has served in many different volunteer roles over the years. He currently serves as the Chartered Organization Representative for Pack and Troop 333, chartered to the Monroe Fire Company in Mechanicsburg. He also serves as the District Chair for Pioneer District and is a member of the Council’s Executive Board. Justin received the District Award of Merit in 2021 for his work as a unit commissioner, merit badge counselor, and District Activities Chair.
Justin has also led Health and Safety operations at the Council’s Wizard Safari and Rendezvous events since 2012, using his skills and training as an emergency medical technician (EMT) and firefighter. He also coordinates the Council’s Wilderness and Remote First Aid training (WARFA) and CPR/AED training efforts year-round, preparing volunteers, summer camp, and full-time Council staff to be ready to take action in the event of an emergency.
Outside of Scouting, Justin serves as an EMT and firefighter at Silver Spring Ambulance and Rescue, Shippensburg Area EMS and Monroe Fire Company. In these roles, he is not only trusted to carry out 911 responses, but also trains, develops, and mentors new emergency vehicle operators, firefighters and EMS providers.
He has also served as trumpet section mentor to the Cumberland Valley High School Marching Band, helping guide young men and women in their development as musicians and their growth into adults.
Professionally, Justin works as an Education Specialist for the Glatfelter Insurance Group.
