Den Walker Position Description
- Den Walkers are volunteer staff members for each Adventure Camp that accompany Scouts and their families from one location to the next. They serve as a guide in coordinating the Scouts and their families. Den Walkers are familiar with all of the Adventure Camp schedules and emergency procedures. All Den Walkers must be registered leaders within the Boy Scouts of America and complete PA. Act 15 Background Check along with BSA Youth Protection Training. All Den Walkers will receive a staff t-shirt to wear for the time they are volunteering. Additional t-shirts are available for purchase. Den Walkers will receive training for their position along with being supplied a kit of materials to help them perform this role.

What should I wear to Adventure Camp?
- Each staff member should wear their camp staff t-shirt each day of camp.
Training/Clearances-Who needs what?
- All Staff
- Hazardous Weather Training (2-year certification)-Available on my.scouting.org.
- Youth Protection Training (2-year certification)-Available on my.scouting.org.
- Youth on Youth Abuse Training- An in-council training that is offered before the start of camp.
- Adult Staff
- All three PA State Clearances (must be current and on file with the council, clearances are only good for 5 years from the date of the clearance):
- The Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance (no fee)
- The Child Abuse History Clearance (no fee)
- Either the FBI Fingerprint Based Criminal History Clearance (for those who have not lived in Pennsylvania for at least the past ten consecutive years) or the New Birth of Freedom Council Disclosure Statement Application for Volunteers (for those who have lived in Pennsylvania for at least the past ten consecutive years.) There is no fee for the Volunteer Disclosure, and the fee for the FBI clearance is $25.75.
