Shawn K. Leppo was not a Scout as a youth, but as an adult, he has made an important impact on Scouting in the New Birth of Freedom Council.
Shawn has served as member of the Council’s Executive Board since 2014 and he currently is the Council’s Vice President for District Operations where he provides overall volunteer leadership to the support work to units done by of our district-level volunteers. Shawn previously volunteered as District Chair for Battlefield District from 2014 to 2018. Shawn is also a Merit Badge Counselor.
One of Shawn’s most challenging roles as member of the Council’s Executive Board was to serve as co-chair for the committee that developed the Council’s approach to collecting program fees from units through a unit’s participating in Friends of Scouting and council-wide product sales in lieu of an additional payment.
Shawn’s son Sam is an Eagle Scout and another son (Ben) was involved in STEM Scouts.
In his professional life, Shawn is an attorney at McNees Wallace & Nurick in Harrisburg where he serves as Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property Group.
Shawn also serves on the executive board of the Capital Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC).
The New Birth of Freedom Council is pleased to present the Silver Beaver Award to Shawn K. Leppo.
